Shivajinagar and Doddigunta

We have 2 Crèche/ Play Schools for the children of sex workers. The centers are situated at Shivajinagar and Doddigunta. The ultimate goal of the school is to motivate the children of commercial sex workers to get good nutrition and educational inputs so that they could continue their education in future. This program also paves way for us to meet and build rapport with the mothers of these children and give them counselling and encourage them to take up alternate employment for a better future.

Identification

The field staff identify the children from various communities who are eligible for admission in to the school. They make regular visit to these children’s families and build rapport with them.

Admission

We select children from the family of sex workers and children from poor families in the community. The age group of children should be between 3 to 6 years. Each center has accommodation for 50 children in each batch.

Education

We are following a need based syllabus prepared by experts and our teachers teach them by “Play Way Method”. The teachers are qualified and experienced. They use lot of teaching and learning materials which are indigenous ones. They have a daily routine and the syllabus includes academic inputs, number concepts, color concepts, Drawing, Painting, singing and so on. After pre-school we encourage the parents to send their children for regular studies in formal schools in their locality.

Nutritional Support

We support the children by providing good balanced food and nutritional supplements.

Medical Care

We organize medical check-up every week. Follow up treatment and special diet are given to the children as per the doctor prescription. If any child found living with serious health problems, special medical care will be provided or referred to specialists accordingly.
